"Hi, I find it really hard to pace myself when I'm using the computer. I use a computer program called "workplace angel" to remind me totake breaks. You can download it from http://www.wpangel.com/ Just click on download and run the .exe to install it. You can then set up the length and how often you want to take short and long breaks. e.g you could set up a three minute breathing space every 15 minutes. You can also set the total length and timing of periods of computer work and decide whether you want a sound alert and the program to automatically start whenever you log in. The teacup icon will sit at the bottom right of your screen and produce pop-ups to remind you to take breaks. You can left click to get a suggested stretch and right click to hide the box. The program also contains a workplace set up wizard explaining how to set up your desk and computer for good posture. It's fairly big brother like, in that it can tell if you keep on working. You get rewarded with silver stars if you obey the program and take breaks! Of course, like me, you might end up swearing at it and ignoring it when you are in the middle of something. However, if you ignore it too much it flashes red and sends you irritating messages which are entertaining!..." Laura Harrison, Uk.groups.yahoo.com |
